Home Decor and Craft Books and Magazine Resources

A number of years ago, I had to reassess the number of craft subscription magazines/books that I subscribed to or purchased, but I didn’t want to get rid of the magazines that I had already collected. So I began pulling out those craft instruction articles of the crafts that I wanted to do on a “rainy day” and quickly became overwhelmed with all the reference materials.

Then there were the home decor magazines/books. I couldn’t pass Barnes and Noble and magazine display cases in stores such as Walmart and/or Sam’s Club without looking at the latest volume from several magazines. If you love crafts and/or home decor but need some resources, I have compiled the following lists for your perusal. These are not exhaustive by any means but the lists are made available to help get you started with home decorating and/or craft projects.

“One Thousand Gifts” by Ann Voskamp (CL/PG Series)

Through a number of unforeseen circumstances that have happened in your life, do you feel you have lost your joy and purpose?

In “One Thousand Gifts” by Ann Voskamp, a writer with DaySpring (a division of Hallmark Cards), she gives us a practical guide to living a life of joy.

Through her own journey, she will help you find your own gratitude in the everyday “little things” that happen in your life, and to “count them as blessings and joy”, and make you aware of God’s presence on a daily basis.

Living a life full of grace and joy is definitely obtainable by counting your blessings every day.

Week 9: “The Walk” by Richard Paul Evans (FI Series)

What would you do if you lost “everything”–your job, your home, your family, your friends? Would you give up on life–lose all hope?

In “The Walk” by Richard Paul Evans, Number 1 best-selling author, the character of the story loses everything. He decides to leave his life behind and goes on a journey by “taking a walk”, leaving behind everything he has ever known. It is the people he meets along the way and the lessons he learns that “saves his life” and which will inspire you.

This fascinating story is about a journey of one man who, although lost at the beginning, ultimately finds hope and courage to believe and grow from his losses in the end.

Happy reading and blessings,

“The Love Dare” by Stephen and Alex Kendrik (CL/PG Series)

“Now these three remain: Faith, Hope, and Love. But the greatest of these is love.” I Cor. 13:13

Are you desiring a deeper, more committed relationship with your spouse or are you wanting to repair a strained relationship between you and your spouse?

In “The Love Dare” by Stephen and Alex Kendrick, you are given a 40-day challenge: to rediscover the love you had and/or desire to have with your spouse. Communicating your love for one another, even in difficult moments, will bless your relationship immensely.

Based on the popular movie, “Fireproof”, an action-packed story about a firefighter and his wife…and a “marriage worth saving”, “The Love Dare” will help you explore the tools for 40-days to keep your love alive as you practice unconditional love in your relationship by discovering the keys to true intimacy and how to develop a dynamic marriage.

If you desire more in your relationship, then “take the dare–the love dare.” You won’t be sorry you did.

Happy reading and blessings,
Yvonne

Week 8: “The Timekeeper” by Mitch Albom (FI Series)

Do you often wish for more hours in your day because you just don’t have enough time to get everything finished on your “to-do list”?

In “The Timekeeper” by Mitch Albom, author, playwright, and screenwriter, he introduces his readers to a man who invented the world’s first clock, but who is punished for trying to measure God’s greatest gift; he is then banished to a cave for centuries and becomes “Father Time”–the Timekeeper.

Given a chance to redeem himself, he is allowed to return to our world to save two people–a wealthy businessman who wants to live forever and a teenage girl who wants to give up on life. Will he be allowed to remain free or will he have to continue on his original path?

The author evokes thoughts and inspires readers to reconsider their own ideas of time–how to spend it wisely and to not waste it. Your perception of time will be challenged and changed by reading “The Timekeeper”.

Happy reading and blessings,
Yvonne
